Pages 23

E ffective neurotherapy is guided by an in-depth assessment process that allows the clinician to understand the possible origins, complexity, and impact of specifi c types of brain dysregulation on the client’s presenting problem. This information is essential in designing an individualized treatment plan intended to help clients achieve the general goal of restoring more effective self-regulation and optimal functioning and the more specifi c objectives identifi ed through their individual assessment results. Also important is a concrete plan for outcome evaluation. This establishes realistic expectations, guides the neurotherapist in assessing the effectiveness of treatment, and provides important feedback to the client regarding progress toward his or her desired goals.
