ABSTRACT

It would be wrong to conclude this section on employer responses without pointing out the fact that, in managing misconduct, prevention is better than cure. Whilst school leaders may at any time be on the receiving end of a staff misconduct crisis, there is much that can and should be done to raise awareness of key issues and forestall such issues from arising in the first place. But whilst much time is spent inculcating expected standards of behaviour amongst pupils, less, if any, may be spent on expected standards of staff behaviour (outside obvious child protection concerns).
