ABSTRACT

Others have outlined possible futures for a CTS research agenda elsewhere (Jackson et al. 2009a, 2012). We detail some possible concerns and pathways regarding the “how to” of doing critical research on terrorism. TS occupies a marginal role in IR and even more so in security studies. Of that, critical scholarship on terrorism is further marginalized and often ignored in mainstream texts on terrorism. In our previous chapters, we have sketched out some critical research approaches which can be used to study and understand terrorism. Some common themes that have emerged are as follows.
