ABSTRACT
We have based our method on seeded region growing improving theway seeds and thresholds are chosen. In this paper, different segmentation techniques are analyzed for solar images. The two main problems that arise when segmenting AR on solar images are: 1.The appearance of bright points (BPs) which are not related to the emergence ofAR. For our aim these BPs are noise; 2. The appearance of solar flares because these cause an increase in the value of the intensity in the pixels of the image where the solar flare appears. This may mean that in one ROI a solar flare cancels the presence of other ROI.
