ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the third and final division of the Hebrew Bible known as the Writings (Ketuvim). This division is more disparate than either the Torah or the Prophets, which complicates a neat division between the story scholars tell about this unit and its particular books and the story that the books themselves tell. As a result, the two stories are mixed together in this chapter. This chapter concludes with two things that the Writings “are all about.” In this case the two are “Life … and Life with God.” Suggestions for further reading are also included.
