ABSTRACT

If the management of intervention at the level of the subsidiary is somewhat straightforward, the collective response of the multinational enterprise is not. In order to be effective, the management of intervention must be an integrated part of the normal decision-making of the MNE. Successful worldwide management of intervention also requires particular management skills. And finally, the most difficult aspect of intervention management must be overcome by MNE management: intervention management requires behaviour almost completely opposite to tradition. Instead of reducing the assets and resources exposed to likely intervention, successful management now necessitates policies which often increase asset exposure.
