ABSTRACT
By. 18 August 1914 Perry was loyally supporting the British Cabinet and working ‘to secure orders from the Government for our chassis for war purposes and for ambulance work’. Henry Ford had not yet begun his pacifist campaign but Perry was aware of his sentiments and as far as he was concerned Ford-UK must be loyal to its government. Early in 1915 he ‘undertook a contract [the first of a number] for the manufacture of shell containers for 18 pound guns’. All its stationery was stamped: ‘This establishment is controlled by the Munitions of War Act, 1915.’1
