ABSTRACT

However commonplace the motor car has become, it is, nevertheless, a complex, highly sophisticated product. To design, develop and plan for the production of a unique model destined for the mass market takes roughly three years and calls for the co-ordinated efforts of numerous highly-trained and experienced personnel with a wide range of skills. The ability to perform this critical function is still limited to firms in less than ten countries.
