Doing Business in the Andean Countries
This chapter focuses not on a country but on a region which constitutes about one quarter of Latin America in population and economic activity. The six Andean countries —Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela —are situated along the Andes mountain range in western South America. They all currently have elected, democratic governments; all except Chile are members of the Andean Common Market; and all are former colonies of Spain. The following 15 sections discuss many of the relevant concerns of foreign business people seeking to operate in the Andean countries.
