ABSTRACT

Most residential facilities rely on a team approach. Teams can include social workers, counselors, therapists, case managers, psychologists, psychiatrists, primary care physicians, nurses, nutritionists, recreation therapists, music therapists, art therapists, treatment coordinators, and, most importantly, RYCWs. Many such staff also serve as directors, managers, or supervisors. Some programs are more lean, staff-wise, than others. For example, unless a program strictly serves youth with substance abuse issues or is affi liated with a hospital, that program is unlikely to have a full-time physician. The same is often the case when it comes to specialized staff such as nutritionists and recreational therapists. Furthermore, some short-terms programs do not provide “therapy” per se. Instead they rely primarily on skilled staff to provide services such as crisis management and case management.
