ABSTRACT

It is difficult for children to grasp the concept that air is all around us as they cannot see it. However, even young babies can feel the movement of air as the breeze blows on their skin or ruffles their hair. They will watch moving branches, leaves and hangings mobiles. They will listen to the sound of rustling leaves in a breeze. Older children will experiment with the movement of air as they blow through straws or pipes to make noises and watch things move. They can blow paint across paper or make bubbles out of soapy water. Bubbles rise and are carried away by the wind.
