ABSTRACT
The groundwater samples have been collected from the Chakdaha Block, West Benagl (Fig. 1) in acid washed pre-cleaned polyethylene (PE) bottles with on-site measurement of pH, Eh, Electrical Conductivity (EC), temperature and alkalinity. Prior to sampling the tubewells were flushed for several minutes to discharge the standing volume of water. Water samples were filtered (0.45 μm membrane filter) and collected in two separate bottles: i) for the analysis of total As (AsT), cations and trace elements (acidified with nitric acid) and ii) for the major anions. Major and trace elements were determined by HR-ICP-MS, and anions by UV spectrophotometry and Ion Chromatography.
