ABSTRACT

Preliminary results in Chihuahua show a statistically significant, positive association between exposure to iAs and diabetes. ORs for diabetes classified by FPG ≥ 126 mg/dL, diagnosis or medication, were significantly higher for subjects exposed to high levels of iAs in drinking water ≥185 μg/L As (Fig. 2) and also for subjects with high levels of tAs and metabolites of iAs in urine (data not shown). Statistical significant increases in OR values were also found for diabetes classified by 2HPG ≥ 200 mg/dL (data not shown).
