ABSTRACT
A friend recently forwarded to me an exchange from a local planning listserv that she likes to follow. The exchange was about the merits of using ecosystem services as part of the decision-making process in land use planning. The participants sought to be balanced, acknowledging that there certainly could be some benefits to using ecosystem services approaches, but ultimately the dialogue focused on the detrimental and “immoral” aspects of the ecosystem services concept.
