Rural Education and Agricultural Development — some Empirical Results from Indian Agriculture

The role of education has been examined in some recent studies on economic growth. ¹ However, the evidence cited has been almost exclusively from advanced countries. The precise relationship between education and productivity has not been analysed much in the context of under-developed countries. This chapter is a modest attempt to examine this question in the light of available recent evidence, particularly from Indian agriculture.
