Furthermore, most of the West African countries have small power utilities. Only Ghana and Nigeria utilities have installed generating capacity superior to 1 GW. Meanwhile, landlocked countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger display a fairly small electricity production and other small economies characterized by past and current political strife display limited energy development (Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau).
