ABSTRACT

If we refer to the reflexivity-based framework, the environment has a generative power to enable individuals to nurture the capacity to take open-ended action and make places in which they engage in establishing their everyday life and aspiring for change. Thus, the adaptive capacity to enhance resilience is not a capacity to achieve a scientifically and technocratically optimized equilibrium of social and ecological systems but is a capacity to adapt to unfolding situations and to move on, both physically and socially. In the process of moving on, individuals need to interact with various actors across levels and sectors, reshaping and transforming ways that interventions for sustainable development takes place. Through these interactions, individuals are expected to renew their citizenship building and open space for negotiation to fight for necessary support to improve their livelihoods.
