ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION The internal market will always be topical, as the EU is based upon a customs union; therefore, the problems encountered with the reality of such an organisation will go in and out of fashion. At the moment, the main questions are on the legal implications leading up to the completion of the internal market, the important cases on the freedoms associated with the Community and the Lisbon Treaty. The Maastrict Treaty and the Treaty of Amsterdam plus the introduction of a single currency (the Euro) both played a part in the next stage in the development of the EU.
