Intimate relationships are diffi cult, complex, and often problematic. Volumes have been written about this subject, and our purpose is not to re-invent the wheel by redefi ning the character of all intimate relationships. Rather, our focus in this chapter is to apply the basic model of masculine depression to intimate relationships with women. Dissociated feelings and destructive behavior impair these alliances in predictable ways.
