ABSTRACT

Janice was one of the most complex cases that the therapist worked with during the CBT for CH trial. She was very mentally unwell on several occasions during therapy, resulting in two admissions to the local psychiatric hospital. During each hospital stay she was given a course of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), which had a significant effect on the CBT, affecting Janice’s ability to talk, concentrate and remember for several sessions after each course of ECT treatment.
