ABSTRACT

SUPER is a network of which we are still currently members, and thus we are particularly aware not only of its strengths but also of its limitations. Our involvement means that the portrayal of this network must be different from the others as our perspectives are different. It has also been the subject of a book that acts as a partner to this one (Researching Schools, McLaughlin et al., 2006). The case study will draw on that work but with a particular focus on the research undertaken in the network schools, rather than the wider issues of schools-university partnerships. It will also refer to the activities of the network up until 2005, so that it covers the same period of time as the other five networks in this book.
