ABSTRACT

The research that underpins this book utilised a variety of methods to collect data. These included: questionnaires, interviews, observations and examinations of network documentation that, together, gave a detailed picture of how each participating network had approached enquiry and the effect that these differing approaches had on the subsequent recognition, creation and use of knowledge by network members. This chapter is principally concerned with an exploration of data from the questionnaire completed by all participants and is structured around the following themes:

• the characteristics of networked enquiry • the nature of enquiry and enquirers • the processes of enquiry • changes resulting from enquiry • implications for practice and for networking.
