ABSTRACT
The European nation-state of Canada built itself around ‘whiteness,’ differentiating itself through ‘whiteness’ and creating outsiders to the state, no matter their claims of birthright or other entitlement. Inclusion in or access to Canadian identity, nationality and citizenship (de facto) depended and depends on one's relationship to this ‘whiteness.’
