ABSTRACT

Over the past decade there has been growing concern about the rise of cyber crime and the possibilities for new Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to assist terrorist networks in the recruitment, funding, planning and execution of their operations. The latter concerns were emphasised following the attacks on the London transport system on 7 July 2005 and the failed attempts two weeks later. These events have led to calls for further policing powers to combat the use of ICT for such purposes.
