ABSTRACT

Jack is 7 years old. He has autism and also an under-functioning thyroid gland for which he takes thyroxine medication. Jack has a very limited diet and is extremely resistant to any new foods being added to his diet, consequently his weight is a matter of concern and he also suffers from constipation. Jack’s mother, Anne, has to take him to the hospital for regular blood tests to monitor his thyroxine levels and for his weight to be monitored.
