ABSTRACT

The preceding chapters have introduced the key concepts underpinning the use of myocardial perfusion scintigraphy (MPS), and explained how to set up and run a nuclear cardiology service. This chapter assumes that everything has gone well, and that you are now producing high-quality images of the myocardium at stress and rest, hopefully with electrocardiogram (ECG) gating. Although we have to interpret the images before producing a report (hence the title of this chapter), we will reverse that order and begin by addressing a number of important general issues around reporting before launching into a systematic discussion of image interpretation.
