ABSTRACT

Urothelial tumors should be graded following the proposal for the bladder urothelial tumors made by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 20041,12,14,19,20,45 or, until validated, both the WHO, 1973 and WHO, 2004 can be stated in the final pathology report.1

The existence of the papillary urothelial neoplasia of low malignant potential in the upper urinary tract has been recently challenged.1,12,14,19,20,45 There is a separate Tumor Node and Metastases (TNM) staging system for tumors of the renal pelvis and ureter according to the AJCC/TNM, 2002 revision (Table 9.2).46
