ABSTRACT
Schizophrenia is described as an enduring mental illness characterized by the presence of delusions, hallucinations and distortion of thinking and perception-with or without negative symptoms-of at least 6 months’ duration that tends to cause significant social and/or occupational dysfunction and is not attributable to substance abuse or an organic condition (DSM-IV).
