Botulinum toxin treatments are currently the most popular cosmetic procedures performed in the United States. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) website,1 4.1 million procedures were performed in 2006 alone. One reason why botulinum toxin is currently the most popular procedure is because of its remarkable effectiveness at reducing unwanted facial lines. Patient satisfaction is very high for this procedure, with many patients enthusiastically sharing their happiness with the treatment. In fact, one of the brands of botulinum toxin type A, BOTOX®, is truly a household word. Almost everyone has heard of BOTOX, and many patients have heard of it from a friend or family member who has had great results.
