ABSTRACT
A test ‘for’ AD could predict onset of AD,
assess severity of AD, or simply test for the
presence of AD. While no test has been
identified that fulfils any of these criteria yet,
there are some promising developments from
the fields of molecular biology and from
neuroimaging which will be summarised in
this chapter, an update of chapter 5 written by
Simon Lovestone in the first edition of this
book. This is a fast evolving topic and an
excellent review of the field is that of Hampel
et al, 2008.
