ABSTRACT
A new edition of the histologic classification of malignant lung and pleural tumors has been published by the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with the International Academy of Pathology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). The WHO histologic classification is listed in Table 5.1 and contains the morphologic codes of the International Classification of Disease for Oncology (ICD-O) and the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED). 1,2 Behavior is coded 0 for benign tumors, 3 for malignant tumors, and 1 for borderline or uncertain behavior.
