ABSTRACT

The keys to successful technique for cadaveric procurement are flexibility and adaptability. The technique must be flexible to permit application to multiple organ procurement without compromising the viability of any organs. It must be adaptable in the event of a change in donor status, and it must allow rapid access, stabilization, and in sifll flushing to avoid warm ischemia. Therefore the technique must also be rapid and effective, to reduce potential errors during procurement and perhaps to allow for removal of organs from unstable donors.
