ABSTRACT

For contrast aortography, angiographic equipment that provides a spatial resolution of at least 3 to 4 lines/mm is required. Ideally, large image intensifiers up to 16 in. (40.6 cm) in diameter should be used to provide a field of view large enough to show the entire arch and its branches or the entire abdominal aorta at the same time. Current technologies include postprocessing and image-reformatting modalities, which allow diameter analysis, 3D rendering, and rotational 3D rendering. Flatpanel technology has significantly increased image resolution.
