KEPLER, JOHANNES (1571-1630). Zuidduits astronoom en natuurfilosoof. Hij is vooral bekend geworden door zijn drie astronomische wetten, waaronder de meest revolutionaire, nl. de opvatting dat de planeten in een ellips rond de in een van de brandpunten van de ellips staande zon draaien.
