ABSTRACT
The strength and failure characteristics of jointed
rock masses have been seriously analyzed by many
scholars (Fadeev & Protopopov 1984, Amadei 1988,
Singh et al. 2002, Kulatilake et al. 1997, Sridevi &
Sitharam 2003). There are many methods to deter-
mine the strength and deformation of a rock mass,
such as experimental methods (Amadei 1988), statis-
tical method (Sridevi & Sitharam 2003, Gao et al.
2004), fractal method (Xie 1996), etc.
