Economics of climate change has been a field of research, but has also been a topic of fierce debate since, with the 1988 World Conference on the Changing Atmosphere in Toronto and the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), climate change was recognised as a problem to be tackled by policy measures.
