Identities at work

The discussions of workplace culture and national culture in the previous chapters have established that the ways in which we perceive ourselves and others as members of particular groups (such as workplaces, departments, countries or professions) are an important aspect of professional communication. This chapter further explores this crucial role of ‘who we are’ in professional contexts, and illustrates some of the ways in which issues of identity are enacted and reected in and through professional communication.
