ABSTRACT

The aim of this final chapter is to bring together some of the arguments provided in the previous chapters, and to outline some avenues for future research in professional communication, in particular for student projects. Since detailed summaries were provided at the end of each chapter highlighting the main points, in this final chapter I will try to avoid repeating myself, and rather attempt to provide a brief synopsis of the overall argument of the book, namely that professional communication is a complex and very fruitful area of academic inquiry which is most productively approached by combining different perspectives, theories, and methodologies – often drawn from different disciplines.
