Plato's Conception of Philosophical method

We call Plato a philosopher, and we give the same title to some of our contemporaries; for instance to G. E. Moore. Is there any common feature which justifies the common title; and, if there is, what is it? In this chapter we shall try to answer questions such as these by reflecting on Plato's work, both on how he practised and on what he preached.
