ABSTRACT

Barry Minkow published an autobiography, Making it in America, when he was only 19 years old. The book described how Barry founded the ZZZZ Best (pronounced “Zee Best”) Carpet Cleaning Company in his parents’ garage and within three years built a successful business with multiple offices and hundreds of employees. Barry encouraged other young people to stay off drugs and follow their dreams. Nine years later, Barry wrote a second book entitled Clean Sweep. This

book described Barry’s conversion to Christianity while serving time in a federal penitentiary. A note inside the front cover states that the author’s proceeds from sales of the book will be used to compensate victims of the ZZZZ Best accounting fraud. But Barry will have to sell nearly as many books as Stephen King to earn the $26 million of restitution he was ordered to pay in conjunction with his 25-year prison sentence.
