Some of the most important dates and festivals of the Church’s year varied according to factors such as the date of Easter, etc. The main variable dates and festivals were: Advent The four (or five) Sundays before Christmas Ash Wednesday The first day in Lent Lent The 40-day fast before Easter Passion Week The week before Easter, which included Good Friday Easter Day Fixed for the Sunday after the full moon on, or next after, 21 March Ascension Day The fifth Thursday after Easter Corpus Christi Held on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday
