ABSTRACT
In this chapter I will analyze the ways a traditional gender-specific division of housework and care in the family, recruitment problems in the welfare state and changes in the production of public health and welfare services opens the doors for the commercialization of services and increased immigration of health and care workers. My question is: will the labour of immigrant women from poorer countries be the primary solution for care problems in the Norwegian welfare state?
