ABSTRACT
OVERVIEW The courts have a broad inherent jurisdiction to award injunctions in any circumstances, and the ability of the courts to award new forms of injunction continues to manifest itself in relation to freezing orders, search orders and super-injunctions. The power to award injunctions may also be granted by statute in particular circumstances but those statutory powers are beyond the scope of this chapter.
