ABSTRACT

Social representations theory has become one of the most distinctive characteristics of European Social Psychology. Since Moscovici (1961) elaborated the theory and investigated French people representations of psychoanalysis, it has received an increasing interest. The number of studies devoted to this theory is large but some questions remain without a definitive answer. This chapter is focused on some of these unsolved questions. How these questions are answered could have important theoretical and methodological consequences. Some of them are concerned with the distinction amongst some related domains such as culture, ideology, social representations or attitude. In the text that follows, we will convey definitions of these concepts trying to establish relations amongst them. The exposition will follow Figure 9.1.
