ABSTRACT
More than twenty years after the wave of reforms and the political openness announced by the Hashemite regime, academic literature does not dwell so much on the eventuality of such process, but rather tries to understand the mechanisms that have enabled the monarchy to maintain its autocratic structure, while preserving and capitalizing its image of openness.
