ABSTRACT
It is widely accepted that:
the world’s climate is changing
global temperatures may rise by around 2 per cent by the end of this century
this is due largely to man-made carbon emissions
steps must be taken to reduce these emissions in the coming years
that could be both by saving energy and by producing it from renewable sources
international agreements have bound Britain and other countries to meeting specific targets for this
relying on current technologies, renewable energy can with just one exception be derived only through the use of land
the owners and managers of land therefore have an obligation and opportunity to utilise their properties for this purpose
