ABSTRACT

The title of this chapter forewarns that we have just begun to define incisive, effective psychotherapy. The usual and solely cognitive behavioral therapist (CBT) of today who is used to merely addressing and changing the patient’s value system may already be reeling from the startling interventions of the preceding chapter. As a reminder, refocused psychotherapy, in its mission to restore psychosocial interventions as the first line intervention in behavioral health, must be more cost- and therapeutically effective than medication. This requires active, incisive, and effective interventions that are not for the faint of heart.
