ABSTRACT

Discussion in Chapter 2 identified a variety of ways children experience citizenship everyday as participation and belonging in communities. Some participate as enthusiastic individual Self-Helpers, Consumer-Citizens, and Green Entrepreneurs. Others experience citizenship through belonging to groups, tribes and teams, churches or ethnic communities. However, some children are diffident and uncertain about their citizenship, including those described as Eco-Worriers, Streetwise Sceptics or New Arrivals.
