ABSTRACT

WalMart is not seen as a model environmentally friendly company. It is known for its size, achieving a billion dollars of sales per day. It has a global workforce of more than two million employees and is connected to over 100,000 businesses worldwide. Many are therefore surprised to hear that WalMart has actually been a world leader among the Fortune 500 companies pushing for sustainability and environmental responsibility. It has pioneered a number of environmental standards that have become targets in many industries. Because of its size, it has the ability to influence many of its partners to become more environmentally friendly.
