ABSTRACT

Thus far, students’ classroom goals, extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, values, and interests have been discussed. From a motivational perspective, however, it is not enough to want to do something, think you are supposed to do something, or fi nd activities enjoyable and of value. In addition, students need to believe that they can actually accomplish their goals and do so in ways that make them feel as if they can take ownership and pride in their accomplishments.
